Description
Pair Antique Renaissance Revival / Spanish Colonial Walnut Hall Chairs (Collection Only – Gordons Bay, Cape Town).
This handsome pair of 19th Century carved walnut chairs offers the rich character and presence associated with Renaissance Revival and Spanish Colonial styles. Each chair features a tall, intricately shaped crest rail, turned uprights, and well-proportioned turned legs joined by an X-stretcher, all displaying excellent craftsmanship and warm, aged patina. The chairs were originally fitted with cane seats and backs but at some stage were professionally refurbished with caramel faux leather upholstery. The faux leather panels are framed with classic stud trim that complements the period detailing. Evidence of the original cane remains visible only in the discreetly filled dowel holes on the back panels, a careful restoration choice that preserves structural integrity while maintaining the chairs authenticity. These chairs present beautifully and are sturdy and ready for use. Please see images above for more detail.
